Mohammad Hossein Taheri Akerdi was born in 1975 in Qom Province, Iran.
Ayatollah Habib Akerdi, his father, after leaving Akerd village, decided to continue his education, and after a while proceeded on a journey to Mashhad and then to Qom, in 1969, for his educational purposes.
Mohammad Hossein finishes high school in Qom, and in 1989, he starts his Howzeh (The Seminary) education. After acqiuring the basic courses, he starts learning Fiqh and Usul (Darse Kharij) under the supervision of great masters such as Ayatollah Sobhani, Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani, Ayatollah Sadegh Larijani, and Ayatollah Hossein Taheri.
Along with Howzeh, Mohammad Hossein pays a great attention to academic education; and from 2001 to 2011 he takes his BA in ‘Theology’, MA in ‘Religious Studies’, and Ph.D. in ‘Religions and Mysticism’ from Imam Khomeini Institute for Research and Education.
Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Hossein Taheri Akerdi is currently the faculty member of Religions Department of Imam Khomeini Institute for Research and Education, and is also the chancellor of Imam Khomeini Virtual University.
Briefly on Dr. Taheri’s Academic Experiences:
7 books, more than 26 scientific-research articles and different international congresses and achieving ‘The Best Article’ prize, are only a part of Dr. Taheri’s educational-research activities. He had also the experience of teaching different courses in different fields of study such as Religions and Denominations, Philosophy of Religion, Shi’a Studies, etc. for MA and Ph.D. students of Howzeh (The Seminary); moreover, he was granted ‘The Best Professor’ of Howzeh for two times. Needless to say that Dr. Taheri has the experience of being the advisor or supervisor of more than 20 thesis/dissertations.

In addition to educational and research activities, Dr. Taheri has various scientific-executive activities that we point out some of them here:
Manager of Educational and Research Planning Department of Imam Khomeini Institute for Research and Education; Member of the Board of Directors of Qom Seminary.
